+ Get the right fit
Grab a soft, fabric measuring tape. If you do not have a measuring tape, you can easily use a long piece of string.
Start by placing your measuring tape or string on the furthest part of the back of your head. You can reference the sizing guides below based on the type of fit you'd like.
Bring the measuring tape around to the front of your head at ¼ inch above your ears and around to the center of your forehead.
Make sure the measuring the tape is not too loose or too tight. You want your hat to fit comfortably. Reference the final measurements (in inches) to our sizing guide. If you are in-between sizes, be sure to size up.
+ Heads Of State Sizing
XS: 21.5 inches
S: 22 inches
M: 22.5 inches
L: 23 inches
XL: 23.5 inches
Not all of our hat styles are available in size XS but don't worry, all size S can be easily sized down to XS using the Adjustable Sweatband in every hat.
If you find your head is in-between sizes, we recommend going up a size.

Measure your head
+ Oval Face
With an oval face shape, you’ll look great in most styles, especially those hats with a wider brim. Take chances with your hat styles and have fun!
+ Round Face
If you have a round-shaped face, look to add length with a style that has a taller crown, like the Teardrop Fedora. The angular features of these styles will complement your face shape, especially if worn Western Style further back on your head.
+ Heart Face
With a heart-shaped face, try a less-pronounced crown, like the Classic Center Dent style, and opt for a shorter brim to help balance the face.
+ Square Face
Soften the striking angles of your square-shaped face with a flat-topped crown style, like the Bolero or the Boater. The wider the brim, the better.
+ Diamond Face
Either the Teardrop Fedora or the Classic Center Dent with a shorter brim will look great on a diamond-shaped face, especially if worn Western Style slightly further back on the head.
+ Long Face
If you have a long face, balance out your length with a wide-brim Teardrop Fedora. You’ll find a tapered crown and a wide brim will be your secret sauce.
+ Care for your wool hat.
- Avoid lots of moisture as the wool in your hat can become stained or damaged by exposure to water.
- If your hat does get wet, use a clean towel to gently blot off the excess moisture and then allow your hat to dry naturally either on a flat surface or upside down.
- Do not blow dry your hat or expose it to steam. Steam will cause your hat to lose its structured shape.
+ Clean your wool hat.
- When it’s time for a cleaning, use a soft bristle brush or lint roller to remove hair or dust.
- To remove small stains, use a felt sponge.
- For severe stains, take your hat to a local hat repair shop for professional cleaning.
+ Handle your wool hat.
Handle your hat by the crown when putting it on and taking it off. This preserves the integrity of the brim over time.
